Installing the SQL Express 2008 SP1 (64 bit) runtime (provided by InstallAware) works.ģ. Installing SQL Express 2008 R2 (64 bit) using Microsoft’s install program works.Ģ. I've set the "Administrator privledges" and '64 bit OS."ġ. To verify that my install script changes we not causing problems, I created a test install that just installed the SQL Express 2008 R2 runtime. Sure enough when I checked the file size of MSDBData.mdf it is zero bytes in length. Both systems fail with the same error: “The operating system returned error 38(Reached the end of the file.) to SQL Server during a read at offsetĠ000000000000000 in file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Template Data\MSDBData.mdf'.” (see attached file) I’m running into problem installing the SQL Express 2008 R2 圆4 bit runtime on a 64bit Win7 machine (Enterprise) and a 64 bit Windows Server 2008 R2 system.
